Another project I've been very busy working on at Dinamo Productions! Got the great opportunity straight after Iconicles to work on another children's television programme called Abadas.

My work on this consisted of a wide variety of Visual Effects work including, Compositing, Motion Graphics 2D and 3D within After Effects, Motion Tracking, Paint/Roto so it was a great mix up and allot of fun!

The first episode of the series aired October 24th, be sure to tune in and catch up on BBC iPlayer and ITV Player!

Jam With RoBina - Lunatic (Official Music Video)

I've just finished work on a music video for a band that I'm in called Jam With RoBina. Set in a sinister woodland near a derelict barn creating the scene of a band jamming through the night whilst being stalked by a lurking werewolf. We had a great time filming this video and I would like to thank everybody that was involved on set for the 2 very late nights. But am glad to say that it was all worth it! We've had a great response so far and hopefully this video will continue to pick up popularity.

Looking forward to my next opportunity to work on a music video with the guys again! Had great fun, learned allot about filming, editing, visual effects and looking good for the cameras!

Iconicles!

After a year of hard work with the brilliant team at Dinamo, Iconicles finally got it's first air time yesterday on CBeebies!

This was my first industry project straight out of University and boy have I learned allot through it. Very proud of the end product and hope everybody else who tunes in gets as excited as we are about it! My work on Iconicles involved anything to do with the Iconiscreen interface. So that includes any of the "Home screen windows" when Nat visits the 2D worlds, the "Fly Throughs" when he decides to zoom into a characters home to bring them out of the screen and the games sequences for each episode along with several other episode specific sequences.

Be sure to tune in at 3.45 everyday this week on CBeebies to catch Nat the Iconicles and more importantly (for me) the Iconiscreen!

Breaking the Silence...

Is anybody out there?
Ok, so blog has been suffering neglect quite severely since I start work September last year but I have been very busy! (In a good way)

I've been working at Dinamo on a children's program for Cbeebies called Iconicles, which we wrapped up last Thursday and will be aired August 8th!! So you'll be seeing allot more of that from me very soon once I can start promoting my work on it. But besides that and despite working on other projects at Dinamo I decided to purchase a Canon 550D camera. Which was a very wise move for me as I have been loving it ever since having thrown myself headlong into the world of semi-pro photography, so more will ensue on that note I promise! Including a music video for my band Jam With RoBina which I am currently in the process of editing. (oh yeah, I'm in a band now too).

Anyways, to the main reason why I'm posting. Along with the 550D I also purchased a Wireless Interval remote control which will allow me to take some amazing time-lapse sequences and long night time exposures. Haven't had the chance to do anything special yet but here is my very first test of the device, which I used to capture the sunset of a beautiful day from my bedroom window...

As stated in an earlier post my latest and last project of university is a credit sequence for the DC/Vertigo Comic book adaptation Constantine. Here are a few untextured illustrations that I have been working on in order to create the look of religious documents and texts. These transitions from film to paper will create the impression of the movie being documented as an extra chapter in the bible.

For the past few years I have been a big PC enthusiast. Ever since I realised I could upgrade components in order to boost performance, I was first inspired when I bought my first Blue LED fan for my old Tiny desktop computer.

Having recently spent allot of time (and money) building my latest PC from scratch I decided to take some nice shots of it. As you can see it's a bit of a step up from my first ever Tiny computer and I can quite happily say it performs as good as it looks.

I am now at the start of my final project of my final year at university. For my final project I have decided to pick up an old idea of mine dating back to my first and only title sequence to date. I thought that creating a full graphic title sequence would be a nice homage to our Motion Graphics course. Also the style I have chosen will allow me to flex some very old muscles in hand drawing and fine art.

I have chosen to create a Credit Sequence for the graphic novel turn movie Constantine.

Ffresh 2010 Motion Graphics Win!!

Having been surprised already by our nomination for the Ffresh awards we didn't think for a second about our chances of winning. Admittedly we were cautiously optimistic on the build up to the awards but after seeing some of the other nominations on the day we were already practicing our 'sad, but grateful for being here' faces, as the other nominations in the category were very impressive!

But despite all this and after a long night of anticipation our BBC iPlayer promo picked up the award! Needless to say we are incredibly grateful for the award and were caught completely by surprise (as you could probably tell by the speech). We would like to thank all who supported us and aided us throughout the production and award ceremony. Also would like to thank those at Rough Collie for selecting our work and giving us such a good write up!

Typography Exorcise - Movie Caption

This was a small exorcise on typography we did in our first year of university. We were each given a caption from a movie and had to promote the movie using type, using images only as light support. My caption was from the classic horror "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

Out of all the submissions across the country for the moving image catagory at the Ffresh 2010 awards, our BBC iPlayer advertisement has made it into the top 5 shortlist! Both Myself and Geraint are are incredibly happy with this achievement and look forward too hearing the results!

This was created for a University project as an Open Brief for 2009. Created by using green screen keying along with rotorscoping.

The idea was to create a piece that showed some of the main sports that BBC broadcast, but to bind them with fluent transitions that flow throughout the whole feature, while keeping the strong contrast colours of the main BBC iPlayer logo.

Emphasizing the connection between two people via their mobile phones using colourful streams of light to represent the signal and invisible connections that are made between people via the O2 network.

For my first project of the 2nd year at university I was set the task of creating 3 animated posters to advertise a horror film festival at a local cinema. The concept that I came up with was for the posters to be split up and displayed at different locations unveiling different bits of information.
Rather than going for your more typical choice of horror i.e. Slasher, Blood, Violence, I wanted to base my idea on eastern horror movies. A simple but unsettling change to the audience's environment.
